Fucking Fix It. Now.

Yup, I’m pissed. (Um, note headline.)

Why? Read on, dear readers.

We know the economy sucks right now. Just follow the bouncing ball, aka the DOW. Up. Down. Up. Down.

The question is always, how has it affected you?

Well, until today, I really didn’t have a good answer for that question.

Sure, a gallon of milk is more than it used to be. Gas prices are higher. It’s going to cost an arm and a leg to keep the house warm this winter.

But, the fact is, couldn’t really control any of that, so I did my best to not let it bother me.

It is what it is.

Well, what it is is shit.

Why my sudden change of heart?

Simple. Today’s mail.

What game in today’s mail to get me riled up?

How about 18,856 reasons to fix the economy. Now.

Yup, as in a fairly significant percentage of my retirement is gone. Kaput. Adios.

I expected a drop, and we’d seen one before. But this quarter was the most significant, bringing the yearly drop to the staggering number above.

Yes, I’m in it for the long haul. Yes, things will rebound (they will, right?). But, that doesn’t make me feel any better about things now.

Just fucking fix it. Now.

    Dear Aidan –

Your Daddy is not an F Bomber by trade.

    🙂

Yeah, I’m with you on that.

But know that our retirement plans will bounce back, as will our economy. Hopefully soon, but it took time to get into this mess so it’s going to take time to get out of it.

Unfortunately, those whose retirements are a little sooner than ours… yikes.

    Just fucking fix it. Now.

    Then stop breaking it.

I hear you. Average drop in retirement accounts is 30%. I am just thankful (for once) that I am many years from retiring instead of only a couple. I would be screwed otherwise, as I’m sure many others are.

  4. Sara says:

I know what goes up must come down, but this is way down…. it’s bullshit.

  5. Long haul friend. At least we are not close to retirement. I know someone who is close to retirement her husband lost his job, and now she is down to making $250 a week. When both of them were making 6 figures! OMG!!

  6. Anna says:

I know. I had 37,967 reasons this week. OUCH.
